Stewart Rhodes
Stewart Rhodes is the founder and leader of the Oath Keepers, a large but loosely organized anti-government extremist group that is part of the militia movement. A disbarred Yale-educated lawyer, Rhodes founded the group in April 2009 and has served as the group’s main spokesperson since its inception. In January 2022, federal prosecutors charged Rhodes and 10 other Oath Keepers with seditious conspiracy for their role in the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The indictment alleges that Rhodes conspired with co-defendants and others to oppose, by force, the execution of the laws enabling the transfer of presidential power.
