"Promised to them 3,000 years ago"

Extremists and antisemites use phrases such as "it was promised to them 3,000 years ago" or "they were promised it 3,000 years ago" in response to posts about Jews, or alongside content showing visibly Jewish people, to suggest that Jews feel entitled to take what does not belong to them. The use of the phrase exploits the biblical concept of "the promised land" to demonize Jews and Israelis and paint them as thieves by nature, and is sometimes rooted in a belief that the state of Israel is illegitimate. Other posts promote overtly antisemitic tropes about Jews being greedy, entitled, or deceitful—such as AI-generated videos showing visibly Jewish men stealing cars or refusing to pay for meals because those things were "promised to them 3,000 years ago."
