Fatigue / Black Fatigue / Jew Fatigue

In the white supremacist world, the concept of “fatigue” is a way to promote racism against people of color (typically Black people) or hate towards Jews by conveying that white people are tired of them and can no longer tolerate their behavior. This is often promoted alongside the baseless accusation that these groups pose an imminent danger to society. White supremacists sometimes refer to these concepts as “n***** fatigue” and “Jew fatigue” which have been present online as early as the mid-2010s, but have grown in popularity since 2020. Some also use the term “Black fatigue,” however, it is important to note that not all mentions of this particular phrase are white supremacist in nature: some within the Black community use it to discuss their struggle with systemic racism. Of course, without a clear extremist connection, general mentions of “fatigue” should not be considered hate-related.

This database provides an overview of many of the terms and individuals used by or associated with movements and groups that subscribe to and/or promote extremist or hateful ideologies across the political and ideological spectrum. It is not all inclusive. Being included in this database does not mean that individuals or groups are engaging in illegal or violent conduct, but rather that in ADL’s judgment the views as exemplified by the statements made in support of those views can be considered extreme. ADL typically notes when an individual or group is alleged to have engaged in illegal or violent conduct.
